Effective Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for Children With Autism

An Overview

AUTISM & ABA

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific, therapeutic approach that focuses on understanding and modifying behaviors to promote positive and meaningful changes in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ABA is evidence-based and data-driven, using principles of behavior to teach new skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and improve overall functioning. ABA interventions emphasize positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors and employ strategies to address challenging behaviors effectively. ABA is designed to address a wide range of behaviors and skills, such as communication, social skills, academics, self-care, and more.

One Incremental Step At a Time.

Communication Skills

Building language, advancing effective communication

Social Skills

Connecting, collaborating and playing with other peers

Academic Skills

Behavioral Skills

Reinforcing desired behaviors, while replacing maladaptive behaviors with alternatives

If your child has been diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum and/or exhibits concerning behavior, an individually tailored therapy plan has been proven to help. By breaking down complex skills into smaller, manageable steps and using systematic teaching methods to help your child learn and generalize those skills, ABA therapy fosters healthy social norms and independent functioning.
A personalized ABA program will focus on your child’s specific behaviors such as tantrums, aggression, food selectivity and other maladaptive behaviors that present challenges in the home, at school, and within the community.

ABA can help your child gain independence with everyday activities, like teeth-brushing, dressing, toileting, bed-making, food-prep, table-setting and more.

Absolutely not. Though they are all based upon the same principles, approaches differ. At Channel ABA, we emphasize an intensive early intervention program that is focused on the individual child. We differ from most agencies by customizing each program to the specific needs and goals of that client with an emphasis on providing effective treatment that is rooted in compassionate, assent based care to ensure socially significant outcomes.
It is recommended to begin ABA treatment as early as possible, as the earlier the intervention, the better the chances of positive outcomes and the potential to make significant improvements in various areas of development. However, it’s important to note that ABA therapy can be beneficial for individuals of any age, and treatment plans can be tailored to suit the specific needs and goals of individuals across the lifespan. At Channel ABA, we provide ABA therapy for children from early childhood through adolescence.
